Composite bonding is the minimally-invasive way to repair the small chips, cracks and blemishes that might be impacting the beauty of your smile.

Patients are often amazed at how straightforward, quick and transformative this treatment can be.

Advantages Of Composite Bonding

  • Can be completed in one appointment.
  • Recreates the natural translucency of tooth enamel.
  • The resins are shaped and contoured to look natural.
  • Fixes every cosmetic dental issue from chips and cracks to stains and enamel erosion.

FAQs

1. Are composite veneers and composite bonding the same thing?

Yes. These 2 phrases are used interchangeably to describe the process of layering composite resin onto an unsightly tooth.

We can perform composite bonding as part of a more comprehensive smile makeover, addressing issues with multiple teeth. Using state-of-the-art smile makeover planning software, we can often achieve a complete result within just one day.

A smile makeover can also be a combination treatment; a particularly popular and effective way to improve your smile is the use of composite bonding and teeth whitening as an ensemble.

2. How does composite bonding work?

Layers of composite resin are bonded to an individual tooth, using strong adhesives that will keep these in place for an of up to 5 – 7 years (provided you care for the tooth well).

The careful layering of the composite, coupled with the outstanding dexterity of our cosmetic dentists, means an incredibly natural result is achieved. Our goal as dentists is to make sure your bonded tooth is in complete synergy with those adjacent to it. We will also select resins that are virtually identical to your existing tooth shade.

3. Are traditional veneers favourable to composite bonding?

Veneers and composite bonding often draw comparisons, as they address the same cosmetic concerns. However, composite bonding is the less invasive and more cost-effective alternative to veneers.

Composite bonding is not destructive to your natural tooth structure, unlike veneers which require some of this to be removed, in order for the veneer to fit over the front surface.

If you are looking for a longer-term cosmetic solution, it’s true that veneers are far more durable. However, we recommend composite bonding as an introductory treatment if you haven’t had a veneer in the past.
